Care and Maintenance of your Power Equipment

We have a team of highly experienced and skilled technicians able to carry out service and repairs on most makes of power equipment. The Edge Equine recommends:

Equipment used daily: Service every 6 months

Occasional use: Service every 12 months

Regular maintenance of your power equipment is important to give you maximum results! Rest assured that we understand your power equipment is a valuable and hardworking asset to your company and we aim for a very speedy turnaround. As such, power tools are awarded priority service status, ensuring that your equipment will be returned to you swiftly and in great working order. We endeavour to have your power equipment back out on the road to you within 48 hours!

Please note: To optimise the life and efficiency of your equipment, tools must be cleaned after each use. Most equipment is “water resistant” not “water proof”. We DO NOT recommend leaving handpieces to soak in buckets. Handpieces must be washed and dried immediately and stored away correctly.

Sending Power Equipment in for repairs ... When sending your equipment in for service and / or repairs, we strongly recommend obtaining a tracking number. You'll need to include a brief description of any problems occurring or if you're just sending your tools in for a general service. If you prefer, you can contact our office to discuss issues at length. Once we receive your power equipment, work will begin immediately. Customer service excellence is very important to us and we will be sure to keep in touch throughout the service process. If you’re happy, we’re happy!

Cleaning Recommendations.

DIAMOND BURRS

  • Start the motor with the handpiece attached.
  • Run at high speed with head pointing down to remove any remaining water.
  • Clean the diamond burr by running over it with a stainless steel brush.
  • Continue until the remains of dentine have completely disappeared.
  • Clean with a damp, clean cloth and disinfectant and dry thoroughly with a clean, soft cloth.
  • Store the burr in its dedicated place within your clean, dry case.

Please note: the handpiece is resistant to water projection, however please do not fully immerse in water. Always use clean water without corrosive or abrasive products.

DRIVE SHAFT / CABLE

  • Clean the outside sheath with a damp sponge and dry thoroughly with a clean, soft cloth
  • When finished working, detach the drive shaft from the motor and the handpiece
  • Store the motor in your clean, dry case

Please note: avoid excessive bending of drive shaft

MOTOR

  • Ensure motor is turned off prior to cleaning.
  • Clean with a damp sponge and dry thoroughly with a soft, clean cloth.
  • Always store the motor in a clean, dry case when not in use.

CASE

  • Clean the case using a damp sponge and dry thoroughly with a clean, soft cloth
  • Store in a clean, well ventilated area

Recommendation: ensure your case is opened from time to time to allow ventilation of your power tools and equipment.

Please clean and thoroughly dry all pieces of your power equipment prior to storage. Most power equipment manufacturers recommend at least 1 annual overhaul (gears, bearings, disc, etc) and comprehensive service of your power equipment which should be carried out an approved service centre*.
